On May 20, 2026 (wednesday) at 3:00 pm, a public lecture titled “Nursing Education from Theory to Practice: Integration of Simulation into Nursing Curriculum” will be held in the First Auditorium of MU-Varna. The lecture will be presented by Prof. Dr. Esra Uğur, a lecturer and leading researcher in the Department of Nursing at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University in Istanbul, Turkey. Prof. Uğur specialized at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Winona State University, USA. She successfully completed her doctoral degree at the Institute of Health Sciences at Marmara University. Since 2024, she has held the academic rank of "Professor" in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University in Istanbul, Turkey.

Prof. Esra Uğur holds the position of Regional Chair of the Anatolian Side Branch (Istanbul) of the Turkish Nurses Association. She is an active member of the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Nursing Education Programs and the Association of Nurse Executives.

She is the Editor of the scientific journal Sağlık ve Hemşirelik Yönetimi Dergisi.

Prof. Uğur has authored over 150 scientific publications, textbooks, and reports focusing on intensive care, simulation training in medicine, and nursing team management. Her scientific contribution is recognized with an H-index of 8 in the global databases Scopus and Web of Science. She is also an active participant in the European research network COST.

Her research activity is directed toward nursing care, cognitive processes, cognitive load, and simulation training. Prof. Uğur also possesses clinical and scientific experience in the fields of patient safety, nursing services management, and intensive nursing care.

 

The event is organised under the project “MU-Varna: Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine (MUVE-TEAM)", under contract No. BG-RRP-2.004-0009-C02. The project is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria under procedure No. BG-RRP-2.004 “Establishment of a Network of Research Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria".
