Guest lecturer at the event was Prof. Leszek Dobrzański from the Medical and Dental Engineering Centre for Research, Design, and Production Asclepios in Gliwice, Poland. He delivered a lecture on “Dental Implantology and Prosthetics within Dentistry 4.0/5.0 under the Industry Integrated Idea 4.0/5.0 Framework".
Prof. Eng. L. Dobrzański, DSc, worked at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice from 1971 to 2017, where he held positions including Faculty Dean and Vice-Rector, while currently he is an Emeritus Professor. From 2021 to 2024, he was also a professor at the Koszalin University of Technology in Koszalin. Prof. Dobrzański is President of the World Academy of Materials and Manufacturing Engineering (WAMME). His works have been cited at least 19 000 times in international journals, and his h-index is 57. He is the author of more than 3 000 scientific publications, including approximately 60 books, 60 book chapters, and more than 120 lectures at the invitation of organisers of international scientific conferences on all continents.
Prof. Dobrzański highlighted that at the forum, he presented new ideas regarding materials, science, and engineering, as well as new approaches to the use of materials in the advancing industry. “It is very important to understand that materials are crucial to our civilization's progress not only from a technical standpoint but also in the field of Medicine," said Prof. Dobrzański.
During the seminar, Prof. Tsanka Dikova presented research on a titanium alloy produced by 3D printing, using a scanning electron microscope. Prof. Dikova noted that in September 2025, Medical University–Varna purchased a 3D printer for printing titanium alloys. The equipment is intended for customised implants, as well as for metal frameworks for creating prosthetic structures in Dental Medicine. At the seminar, Prof. Dikova presented MU–Varna team's work with the new equipment in the form of a study on the surfaces of titanium alloys produced via 3D printing, as well as the capabilities of the new scanning electron microscope, which is currently the best in Bulgaria.
Chief Assistant Prof. Dr. Petar Valchanov and Assistant Prof. Dr. Mihail Bachvarov delivered presentations related to the application of new software for designing customised structures in Orthopaedics and Prosthetic Dental Medicine.
The programme also included a meeting between the guest lecturers and the management of the Faculty of Dental Medicine–Varna and a round table discussion on the application of modern CAD systems for manufacturing customised implants and virtual models for surgical interventions in General and Dental Medicine.
