A scientific forum on biodiscoveries brought together international experts working in the fields of Medicine, Pharmacy, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology in Varna.

The forum included participation from members of the Board of Directors of the European Biotechnology Network. The main topic of the forum highlighted one of the most promising areas in modern science – transforming discoveries into real-world solutions for human health and life. Emphasis was placed on maintaining connections with international partners as a bridge towards building a sustainable environment for innovation and the development of medical science in Bulgaria.

“Expanding contacts in the fields of Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology was the focus of the forum,” underlined Prof. Svetlana Fotkova, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, at whose initiative the scientific seminar was organised. Such scientific meetings increase the opportunities for cooperation of Varna-based specialists with their international colleagues in the field of intellectual property and technology transfer. For MU–Varna as the organising body, the event represents another step toward building a sustainable environment for innovation and development.

“The future of Medicine is not within Medicine itself.  It should be multidisciplinary in combination with different technologies. One of the most important technologies is Biotechnology. In the future, Medicine and Biotechnology will be more closely intertwined, which will improve treatment, prevention, and predictive disciplines, with the ultimate goal of implementing Personalised Medicine,” stated Prof. Dr. Munis Dundar, Chair of the European Biotechnology Network.

The event was organised by Medical University–Varna within the project "Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine (MUVE-TEAM)".
