The third now traditional seminar in the “Biomedical Engineering” series, is to be held at the end of April. It is organised by Medical University–Varna under project No BG-RRP-2.004-0009-C02 Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine (MUVE-TEAM), funded by the European Union–NextGenerationEU.

The guest lecturer at the event will be Prof. Leszek Dobrzański from the Medical and Dental Engineering Centre for Research, Design, and Production ASKLEPIOS in Gliwice, Poland. He will deliver a lecture on "Dental Implantology and Prosthetics within Dentistry 4.0/5.0 under the Industry Integrated Idea 4.0/5.0 Framework".

  Prof. Eng. L. Dobrzański, DSc, worked at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice from 1971 to 2017, where he held positions including Faculty Dean and Vice-Rector, and is currently an Emeritus Professor. From 2021 to 2024, he was also a professor at the Koszalin University of Technology in Koszalin. He is President of the World Academy of Materials and Manufacturing Engineering (WAMME). Prof. Dobrzański is the Editor-in-Chief of two scientific journals indexed in Scopus: Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering JAMME and Archives of Materials Science and Engineering AMSE. He has been awarded the honorary title “Doctor Honoris Causa” by the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev” (Bulgaria), Khmelnytskyi National University (Ukraine), and the University of Miskolc (Hungary). His works have been cited at least 19 000 times in international journals, and his h-index is 57.  He is the author of more than 3 000 scientific publications, including around 60 books, 60 book chapters, and over 120 lectures at the invitation of organisers of international scientific conferences on all continents.

During the seminar, Prof. Tsanka Dikova will present research on a titanium alloy produced by 3D printing, using a scanning electron microscope.  Chief Assistant Prof. Dr. Petar Valchanov and Assistant Prof. Dr. Mihail Bachvarov will deliver presentations related to the application of new software for designing personalised structures in Orthopaedics and Prosthetic Dental Medicine.

The programme also includes a meeting between the guest lecturers and the management of the Faculty of Dental Medicine–Varna and a round table discussion on the application of modern CAD systems for manufacturing customised implants and virtual models for surgical interventions in General and Dental Medicine.
