Prof. Orit Pinhas-Hamiel, a leading researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, will be a guest at MU-Varna. On April 22 at 5 p.m. in the First Auditorium prof. Hamiel will present a public lecture on the topic Genetics of Severe Obesity.

Prof. Orit Pinhas-Hamiel, MD, is a full Professor of Pediatrics at the Gray Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, Tel-Aviv University, Israel. She is the director of the Pediatric Endocrine and Diabetes Institute at the Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital, Sheba Medical Center, and the National Juvenile Diabetes Clinic in Maccabi Health Care services. Prof. Pinhas-Hamiel holds Nancy Gluck Regan Chair in Juvenile Diabetes in Tel-Aviv University.

Prof. Orit Pinhas-Hamiel received her medical degree at Gray Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, Tel Aviv University. She completed her specialization in Pediatrics at the Sheba Medical Center (cum laude). She then pursued a clinical fellowship in Endocrinology at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

Her research focuses on obesity-associated comorbidities, particularly obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents, as well as type 1 diabetes and eating disorders. She has published over 200 scientific papers as well as book chapters in endocrinology.

In recognition of her contributions to pediatric endocrinology, she received the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) Outstanding Clinician Award in 2021. She remains dedicated to advancing clinical care and research in pediatric diabetes, obesity, and endocrine disorders.
