The first working meeting of Scientific Group “R&D Laboratory for Nutritional Supplements” under the extensive strategic research and innovation project “Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine”, where Medical University–Varna is a partner, was held on 21 June 2023. Optical methods for characterisation of plant extracts and physico-chemical methods for extraction and characterisation of biologically active substances from plants were on the forum agenda.

During the scientific meeting at MU–Varna, Prof. Eng.  Tinko Eftimov from the University of Quebec (Canada) and Assos. Prof. Nadezhda Petkova from the University of Food Technologies in Plovdiv shared their experience. The guests presented two lectures on: “Methods of Applied Photonics for Analysis of Plant Extracts” and “Analysis of Bioactive Substances in Plant Extracts and Functional Foods”. The forum was attended by more than 30 lecturers, doctoral and undergraduate students.
