Приемам | Разбери повечеThe first working meeting of Scientific Group Nutrition and Neurosciences (NutriLect) under the recently launched large-scale strategic research and innovation project “Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine”, where MU–Varna is a partner, took place on 14th and 15th June 2023. Prof. Dr. Cohen Hussentruit – Head of the Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinic at University Hospital–Brussels and Lut Gabe Shelpe – a speech therapist at University Hospital–Brussels were invited to share their expertise in nutritional interventions in children with autism and cerebral palsy.
The guests delivered two lectures at MU–Varna on: “Enteral Nutrition, Nutritional Interventions and Nutritional Difficulties in Children with Cerebral Palsy”, lectured by Prof. Dr. Koen Huysentruyt and “Dysphagia in Children with Neurological Diseases”, lectured by Lut Gabe. The lectures were attended by more than 50 clinicians, speech therapists, lecturers and students.
During their visit to MU–Varna, the specialists from Belgium presented several clinical cases to the NutriLect Scientific Group participants. Nutrition support algorithms for children with neurological disabilities were discussed. The role of the speech therapist in overcoming swallowing disorders in these patients was also accented. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Hussentruit and Lut Gabe consulted several children with autism and cerebral palsy at Karin Dom.
