Dr. Ehab Hanna, an internationally recognised surgeon and Secretary General of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies (IFHNOS), who is also a physician at the Department of Neurosurgery at MD Anderson Cancer Centre at the University of Texas, delivered a lecture on Anatomy and Pathology of Parapharyngeal Space on 17th October at MU-Varna.

Dr. Hanna is also a Visiting Professor of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He was Medical Director of the Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Centre for 20 years (2004-2023), and is currently Director of the Skull-Base Tumour Programme.

Over the last 15 years, Dr. Hanna has consistently been recognised as one of America's top physicians and top cancer specialists.

In addition to patient care, Dr. Hanna has been actively involved in clinical and translational research with a focus on skull base tumours. He has authored more than 350 publications, invited papers, book chapters, and editorial articles. He has co-edited several textbooks on head and neck cancer, laryngeal cancer, and the comprehensive management of skull base tumours.

Our guest was Editor-in-Chief of Head & Neck Journal for 15 years (2007-2022). Dr. Hanna served as president of the North American Skull Base Society (2013-2014) and president of the American Head and Neck Society 2018-2019).

The lecture was conducted under the project № BG-RRP-2.004-0009 "Medical University–Varna: Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine (MUVE-TEAM)", funded by the European Union–NextGenerationEU, through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria.
