The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at MU-Varna, together with the Bulgarian Anatomical Society and the European Federation of Experimental Morphology, organised the 12th International Symposium on Clinical Anatomy and the 3rd European Student Symposium on Anatomical Research. The scientific forum took place in the period 10th–13th October 2024 at Rosslyn Dimyat Hotel in Varna.

Prominent scientists from Europe and the USA were lecturers at the prestigious scientific event. Names of distinguished scientists and specialists from Ireland, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Serbia, France, Spain, Bulgaria and the USA stood out among the participants. The forum was opened on 10th October 2024 by the Rector of Medical University–Varna Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov, Prof. Dr. Anton Tonchev, Director of the Research Institute at MU-Varna, Prof. Fabio Quondamatteo, President of the European Federation of Experimental Morphorology, and Prof. Nikolay Lazarov, President of the Bulgarian Anatomical Society.

The programme comprised lectures on Neurosciences, new technologies in cell learning and research, a session on motor anatomy with an orthopaedic focus, and lectures on Anthropology, Molecular and Cell Biology.

 "The Forum is highly diverse and conceived to encompass the interests of a wide range of participants, including first and second year students at MU-Varna. This year we welcome many students from European countries participating in one joint symposium along with Clinical Anatomy", explained Prof. Tonchev and emphasised that the students nominated by the anatomical societies in Europe had come to present their activities. "There is a competition, there is a jury of international experts, who meanwhile are going to deliver key lectures," added the Director of the Research Institute at MU-Varna.

“I am here to declare the support of the University to the organisation of the Forum! The Anatomy Group is very strong, and it is a solid partner in the implementation of the concepts and principles of MU-Varna around the world," emphasised in his welcome address the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov.

The event is a part of the conference programme within the MUVE-TEAM project and is funded by the European Union under the NextGenerationEU programme, Project No BG-RRP-2.004-0009-C02.
