The International Scientific Conference "Foods, Herbs, Nutraceuticals and Nutrition for Better Health", organised by Medical University–Varna under the project "Enhancement of Translational Excellence Achievement in Medicine (MUVE-TEAM)" took place from 26th to 28th July in Varna. The objective of the scientific forum was to focus the attention of scientists and specialists from various scientific fields on the cutting-edge research in the areas of "Foods and Nutrition" and "Nutrition and Quality of Life".

On behalf of the Rector of MU-Varna Prof. Dr. Dimitar Raykov and on her own behalf, the Vice–Rector for Science and Research Prof. Dr. Violeta Yotova welcomed the participants at the international conference. She underscored the significance for the University of the implementation of the large-scale strategic research and innovation project MUVE-TEAM, which pursues to expand the capacity of higher education institutions towards increasing competences in research work.

"I am delighted to point out that the project is successfully implemented with the support of the European Union through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Republic of Bulgaria under the procedure for the establishment of a network of research higher education institutions and is being performed with the partnership of research teams from all over Europe," underlined in her welcome address Prof. Yotova and added that the forum would be of immense benefit to the young specialists who were about to embark on their professional path, and to all undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research activities.

Scientists and specialists from Poland, Italy, Turkey, North Macedonia and Bulgaria and our researchers working in Canada and Australia participated at the Conference. The lecturers and participants had the opportunity to share their expertise in the field of functional foods, intravenous nutraceuticals, multifunctional nutraceuticals, based on nanotechnology. The participants presented studies dealing with a range of diseases in which these products could be potentially applicable, ranging from chronic to socially important infectious diseases, and delivered lectures related to the application of some algae-derived substances. The event also included a poster session.
